Rice Park – St. Paul, MN

In honor of Charles Schultz…Peanuts cartoonist, there are some sculptures in this park.

The park is also “home” to a lot of street people.

Cathedral of St Paul

View from the Capitol:

The stunning and massive cathedral sits on Cathedral Hill within site of the capitol and overlooking downtown St. Paul. It features a distinctive copper dome.

In 1915, Archbishop John Ireland wanted to build a “great cathedral” on the highest point in downtown St. Paul. He also supposedly ordered builders to make the spire one foot higher than the nearby Capitol, gaining a symbolic edge in the “church vs. State” contest. It took more than 50 years to complete.
