I REALLY like Bend, and have been super busy. I like Bend so much, I’ve decided to stay until at least the end of the year. Probably not the smartest move, temperature wise…since it gets down to the high 30’s at nite, and is all over the place as a high during the day [last week around 96’, this week mid 60’s].
At the end of the year, I’ll decide if I want to stay longer. If not, then since it’s winter, I’ll head south to Calif, and then when it gets warmer, back up to check out other parts of OR [Portland, longer in Eugene, Ashland] and Washington.
I’ve made several friends here, both male and female, who work either funky hours, or “from home”. I can ride my bike to downtown in 5 minutes. Everything here, driving wise, is 10 minutes away…and I have rarely driven. I can call a new friend, or they call me, and we are together in 10 minutes. I know for some of you that’s no big deal, but for me…it’s a whopping change.
There are a lot of things going on, entertainment wise here. Lots of music. There is “early” music starting anytime from 3 pm to 6 pm. Then other music later. There are free lectures [Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s daughter, female Michael Learned from The Waltons]. I started doing yoga daily Monday thru Friday. And there is all this hiking that I have only scratched the surface of.
AND it is REALLY, really pretty here, esp with the Deschutes River winding thru town.
On October 1st I’m switching living places – the cottage I’m in has NO central heat. Brrrr. My new place is a loft over 2 townhouses. A couple more blocks away from town, but that’s ok.
