Car: PT Cruiser – For Women Only?

UPDATE: The last PT Cruiser will roll off the production line today, Friday, in Toluca, Mexico.

Original Post: A couple weeks ago I read that I’ll never see a guy driving a PT Cruiser.  Since then every time I see one, I look to see who’s driving …and yep… it’s a woman.  Next time you see one…check out who’s driving it!

I saw a guy driving one…once. He was the guy from Silence of the Lambs that like to tuck his package between his legs.

I noticed a PT Cruiser the other night and decided to check out the driver, curious after reading your blog, and it was a male driver! He was sporting a pony tail, if that makes any difference.

Sure, I see more women than men driving PT Cruisers (But, there’s a simple explanation further into my comment). Then again, I see more women driving 2001+ Honda Civic coupes than men … hhmmmmmm … which is the more girly car? Survey Says, “Civic”. Oops, that must really chafe the men who like to drive Civics.

Some men don’t have the testosterone to dare to be different. Nope, they’d sooner buy their trucks or rice racers for A to B. Notice most men don’t drive ‘soccer mom’ mini-vans, it’s the social stigma attached to a mini-van. For shame, a mini-van is a pretty handy vehicle. A PT Cruiser is pretty much a mini-van and redneck men don’t play that.

Vehicles are overrated, they are simply mechanical things to get you where you need to go. My old little car has road war wounds, some of which never healed, but that crap can has never let me down … thanks Cavalier for $1G, I never spent less money on something so darn good. That Crapalier may look poor on me or maybe it suits me well depending on who’s checking me out at red lights, but I can tell you that my wallet is thicker nonetheless – it’s so nice to have something bought and paid for instead of monthly bills for something that depreciates every year. Hhahaa!

All I have to say is that the PT Cruiser is one damn UGLY car if you call it a car LOL. Would not be caught DEAD in one.

“Some men don’t have the testosterone to dare to be different” Blah, blah, blah.

You should read Consumer Reports about them before talking from your estrogen.

devnull@bradleejohnson.com – Thanks for your highly educated comment.

I guess it does make sense that in a town that wants to remain weird, there is the one guy in all of America who chooses to own a PT Cruiser. I bet you look real hip driving down SoCo in that!

It’s great to know that Consumer Reports reports on who the typical buyer of a car is. If they did, they would state only women buy this piece of shit car, which it is.

Why are your panties in such a wad over a mode of transportation?

I’d say it has less to do with testosterone, and more to do with aesthetics. Most guys would think it is an ugly car so not buy it. There are lots of guys who drive mini-vans. My wife refuses to ever buy a mini-van because we don’t want to become like “those” people.

Seems like your IQ goes down 20 points when you drive a minivan.
